2 hour air-dry clay hand building session

Using air-dry clay, learn basic hand building techniques to make planters, candle holders, coasters, decorative or sculptural pieces, which you can take home the same day.

Our venue is located in the community event space at King William the Fourth pub on Leyton High Road. Each session hosts up to 6 people. Tickets include a complimentary drink from the bar and are valid for over 18s only unless accompanied by an over 18 with their own ticket.

Workshop dates are forecast for the next 4 weeks, and may be extended by popular demand. All working tools and clay are provided. More details on the workshops and air-dry clay below.

Working with air dry clay, Lydia will guide you through some basic clay handling techniques to inspire your own makes, which might include pinch pots, planters, candle holders, coasters and decorations. Whether you want to relax, socialise or get creative, clay is a brilliant way to spend a dull Monday evening - and in the pub no less!

Your pieces can be taken home straight after the workshop and then they need to dry for 48 hours. The small fibres in the clay give it extra strength, as this clay is not fired in a kiln.

Once fully dried at home, you can paint your pieces with acrylic paint and varnish for extra strength and longer life. Air dry clay is not foodsafe for plates or cups, but if sealed with varnish, can be used for plants, candles, trinkets or decorations.

Small cardboard boxes and newspaper are provided for you to package your works at the end of the workshop to take home.
