Offering ‘quirky, lavish, one-of-a-kind places to stay’ - this travel brand’s warehouse office in Clapham needed to reflect the same vibrant environment for its staff.
Located in a two storey warehouse with a glazed sawtooth roof, the upper floor featured meeting spaces, breakout zones and kitchenettes, and was regularly bathed in clear north daylight. Conversely, the ground floor entrance level, where most of the staff were based, was dark, dingy and disconnected.
Furthermore, the company wanted to expand across the corridor to take over three other offices in the same building, more than doubling their floor area.

Furthermore, the company wanted to expand across the corridor to take over three other offices in the same building, more than doubling their floor area.

The approach to the expansion proposed to open up select areas of existing blockwork partitions to create a central open plan workspace, with new entrance area, through connections and periphery meeting spaces. Utilising the lower eaves spaces on the upper floors, new voids were proposed around the multiple staircases, enabling the bright daylight to filter down from the sawtooth roof above.
